Narayanavanam served as the capital of King Akasaraja, who ruled the region. It is historically significant as the site where King Akasaraja married his daughter, Padmavati, the presiding deity of the Padmavathi Temple in Tiruchanur, to Lord Venkateswara, the deity of the Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala.
The Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple was established in 1541 AD. Over the years, it has been extended to accommodate more devotees and enhance its facilities. The temple is now under the administration of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, ensuring its upkeep and management.
