The Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple, a cave temple dedicated to Shiva, is believed to have origins in the Vedic period. It was later renovated in the 16th century by Kempe Gowda I, the founder of Bengaluru. The temple was built by Kempe Gowda after his release from a five-year prison term by Rama Raya. It stands as one of the oldest temples in Bengaluru and is an architectural marvel that draws many devotees.
