Vettakkoru Makan is a Hindu deity worshipped in Northern Kerala. The most famous temple is the Balussery-Kotta Vettakkorumakan Temple. This temple was once the fort of the Rajas of Kurumbranad. Other prominent temples are in Ramanthali, Nileshwar, Kottakkal, Nilambur, and various places in Kannur and Kasargod districts.

Nearest airport: Calicut International Airport (Kozhikode). From the airport, you can take a taxi or bus to Balussery via Kozhikode city.
October to March. Avoid the monsoon season (June to September) due to heavy rainfall. Summers can be hot and humid, so winter months are ideal for a pleasant visit.
