Constructed in the Chola architectural style, the temple features a window with nine lattices representing the Navagrahas (nine planets) and another with five lattices symbolizing the Pancha Bhoothas (five elements: earth, water, fire, ether, and space). The temple once housed numerous antiquities, including 44 sculptures made of bronze and stone, as well as copper and bronze vessels, which are now preserved in various archaeological museums under the Department of Archaeology. Recognizing its historical importance, the temple is currently under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India.
