In a historic achievement, India has made history as the first country to successfully land the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the southern pole of the Moon. The Lander Module (LM) of Chandrayaan-3, ISRO's third lunar mission, which was launched on July 14, has effectively achieved a landing on the Moon on August 23.

Joining ISRO scientists via video conferencing from South Africa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it is a “historic day for India’s space sector”. “Like our scientists said, India is on the Moon now,” the Prime Minister said.
