Military Conflict Cannot Solve Any Issue, Says PM Modi; Calls For Peace In Ukraine And West Asia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that military confrontation cannot resolve global issues and called for a quick end to ongoing conflicts in regions such as Ukraine and West Asia. He made the remarks after holding talks with Finland's President Alexander Stubb during the Finnish leader's visit to India.

PM Modi stressed that dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for international law remain the most effective ways to address disputes.

India and Finland Support Dialogue and Diplomacy

During his media statement after the talks, PM Modi said both India and Finland share similar views on resolving global conflicts peacefully.

He said both nations strongly believe in the rule of law and diplomatic engagement rather than military action.

According to the Prime Minister, lasting solutions to international disputes cannot come from war or confrontation alone.

He also reiterated India's support for global peace efforts, saying the country will continue to back initiatives aimed at ending conflicts.

Call for End to Ukraine and West Asia Conflicts

Referring to ongoing wars in different regions, PM Modi said India supports a swift end to conflicts.

He mentioned the war in Ukraine and the rising tensions in West Asia, stating that peaceful solutions must be pursued.

India has consistently called for negotiations and diplomatic engagement in global conflicts, emphasising stability and humanitarian concerns.

India-Finland Partnership Expands in Technology

Apart from global issues, the discussions between PM Modi and President Alexander Stubb also focused on strengthening cooperation between India and Finland.
The two countries agreed to deepen collaboration in areas such as digitalisation and sustainability. These sectors will now be treated as part of a strategic partnership.

PM Modi said cooperation in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, 6G telecommunications, clean energy, and quantum computing could give new momentum to bilateral relations.

Trade Ties May Improve with India-EU Agreement

The Prime Minister also said that the proposed India-European Union free trade agreement could further boost economic relations between India and Finland.

According to him, the agreement would help expand trade, increase investment opportunities, and strengthen cooperation in technology.

President Stubb began his four-day visit to India on Wednesday with the aim of strengthening partnerships in trade, investment, and emerging technologies.

Rising Tensions in the Middle East

PM Modi's call for peace comes at a time when tensions in the Middle East are escalating.
Reports indicate that Iran launched fresh attacks targeting Israeli and American bases early Thursday. Air sirens were reported in Israeli cities including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem following missile alerts.

Israeli authorities also said their forces carried out strikes targeting infrastructure in Tehran and operations linked to Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Explosions were reportedly heard in several areas of Tehran during the military actions.

Naval Incident Adds to Tensions

The conflict has intensified further after a major naval incident earlier this week.
According to reports, the US Navy sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday night. The attack reportedly killed dozens of Iranian sailors.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly criticised the incident, calling it an "atrocity at sea."

He said the ship was operating in international waters and warned that the United States would face consequences for the action.

Some Iranian religious leaders also reacted strongly to the developments.

Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli described the situation as a major test for the country and issued strong remarks against the United States and Israel during a television appearance.

The statements highlight the increasing tensions and deepening hostility in the region.

As the conflict intensifies, world leaders continue to stress the need for diplomacy and dialogue.
