Signal-Free Network Around KBR Park
Under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformation Infrastructure project, seven flyovers and underpasses will be built over the next two years. The initiative is designed to create a signal-free road network, particularly around the KBR National Park belt, one of the most traffic-heavy zones in the city.
City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar reviewed the ongoing construction of the steel flyover at Mugdha Junction on Banjara Hills Road No 2. He inspected the site along with senior police officials, representatives of GHMC, and Megha Engineering Infrastructure Limited.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner stated that these works are being carried out with the aim of establishing a signal-free road network in the city. He explained that the seven flyovers and underpasses constructions are being undertaken in a phased and well-planned manner, in coordination with the GHMC, the State Government, and the Police Department, to ensure minimal inconvenience to the public.
Night Works to Minimise Public Disruption
As part of the immediate plan, construction of six pillars on the stretch from Mugdha Junction towards KBR Park began on Friday night. Authorities have chosen to carry out intensive activity during late hours to prevent heavy daytime congestion.
He clarified that the works will be carried out intensively during the night hours to avoid traffic disruptions during the daytime. There will be minor inconvenience on the road only until the foundation works are completed, after which vehicular movement will continue as usual, he assured.
Traffic officials indicated that the first two to three days after commencement will be closely monitored. Based on real-time assessment, route diversions or modifications will be introduced and advisories issued to motorists.
Transforming Connectivity Across the City
Officials believe the infrastructure push will significantly change commuting patterns once completed. Sajjanar explained that once this prestigious project is completed, the surroundings of KBR Park will completely transform into signal-free junctions, thereby facilitating smooth and rapid transit to the Central, Eastern and Western parts of the city.
Authorities have advised commuters to plan journeys in advance and encouraged greater use of public transport to reduce road congestion during the construction phase. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with officials as the works progress in the interest of long-term urban mobility improvements.
Joint CP Traffic D Joel Davis, Joint CP Special Branch SM Vijay Kumar, DCP Traffic Kajal, Jubilee Hills DCP Ramana Reddy, senior GHMC officials and representatives from Megha Engineering Infrastructure Limited were present during the inspection.
