Sunny Deol-starrer Border witnessed a sharp drop in collections on Tuesday, marking its first major slowdown at the box office after an extraordinary extended opening weekend driven by holidays and strong word-of-mouth.

As regular working days resumed, the film's business slowed down, though its overall performance remains impressive and firmly positioned among the biggest grossers of the year.

After a thunderous opening across multiplexes and single screens, Border collected approximately ₹6.36 crore on Day 5 (Tuesday) from morning shows and advance booking, as per Sacnilk data. The dip was widely anticipated, given that the film benefited from a long holiday stretch from Friday to Monday, during which it recorded consistently high footfalls. Despite the fall, the film has managed to post a total India net collection of ₹183.36 crore (net) within just five days at the India box office.

Opening Weekend and Holiday Run

Border began its theatrical journey with a robust ₹30 crore on Day 1, setting the tone for a strong run. Collections surged on Saturday with ₹36.5 crore, reflecting a healthy 21.67% jump, before exploding on Sunday with ₹54.5 crore, registering a massive 49.32% growth. The patriotic appeal, Sunny Deol's mass connect, and positive audience response played a major role in driving Sunday's numbers.

Interestingly, the film showed further strength on Monday, a public holiday in many parts of the country, by collecting ₹59 crore, its highest single-day total so far. This rare Monday growth of over 8% highlighted the film's wide acceptance across demographics and regions.

Tuesday Drop: A Reality Check

With the holiday advantage fading, Tuesday saw collections normalize sharply. Morning show occupancy stood at 11.21%, which, while lower compared to the weekend, is considered a decent figure for a working weekday. Trade experts believe the steep decline is more reflective of the exceptional highs seen earlier rather than audience rejection.

The drastic contrast between Monday and Tuesday numbers is largely attributed to the end of festive holidays, school reopenings, and regular office schedules resuming across major cities.

Outlook for the Coming Days

With over ₹183 crore already in the bag, Border has already become a hit at the box office. The key question now is how well it holds during the remainder of the weekdays and whether it can regain momentum over the upcoming weekend. Given its mass appeal, strong emotional connect, and lack of major competition, the film is expected to remain steady and add respectable numbers in the days ahead.

If it manages stable weekday holds and another solid weekend jump, Border could comfortably march towards the ₹200 crore India net milestone, further cementing Sunny Deol's remarkable box office resurgence.
