RCB Proposes Rs 4.5 crore AI-Enabled Cameras to Boost Fan Safety at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has formally proposed the installation of 300 to 350 AI-enabled cameras at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to improve crowd management and fan safety. The proposal was submitted to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and highlights the franchise's commitment to adopting advanced technology for safer stadium experiences.

The AI-enabled cameras are designed to assist the KSCA and law enforcement agencies in monitoring crowd movement, maintaining orderly queueing, and preventing unauthorized access. By tracking entries and exits in real time, the system aims to minimize risks during high-attendance matches and ensure a smooth experience for fans. RCB emphasized that the initiative will significantly enhance overall fan safety, particularly during IPL matches and other high-profile events hosted at the stadium. The AI system is expected to provide actionable insights for proactive decision-making and enable a faster response to any crowd-related issues.

To implement this project, RCB has partnered with Staqu, a technology company recognized for its expertise in public safety through automation and data-driven intelligence. Staqu's solutions feature facial recognition technology, intelligent monitoring of objects, crowds, perimeters, and vehicles, and have assisted multiple state police forces in monitoring and investigations. The solution leverages advanced analysis of video, audio, and text data, accelerating investigations and enabling faster, more accurate decision-making. Its real-time AI video analytics allows early detection of incidents such as violence, unauthorized access, or intrusion, facilitating swift and effective law-enforcement response.

Demonstrating its commitment to fan safety, RCB will bear the entire one-time cost of approximately ₹4.5 crore for this AI surveillance project. The initiative falls under the RCB CARES program, reflecting the franchise's broader focus on community engagement, fan welfare, and innovative solutions.

This proposal represents a significant step forward in modernizing stadium operations in India, where technology integration is becoming increasingly important for large sports venues. Once implemented, the AI-enabled system at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium could serve as a model for other cricket stadiums across the country, enhancing both security and the matchday experience.
