An American blogger has recently spotted a fake Apple Store in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in China's remote southwest corner. The fake Apple store in China offers all Apple products like iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPod Touch etc, but all are duplicate products!
The blogger noted that the store boasts words "Apple Store" written over the entryway and its employees were wearing famous blue T-shirt and tags, which are used in real Apple Stores. The fake store had tried to copy all elements of the real store, from colour of the paint to the name tag of the employees.
The name tags around the necks of the friendly salespeople didn"t actually have names on them – just an Apple logo and the anonymous designation 'Staff'.
"This was a total Apple store rip-off. A beautiful rip-off – a brilliant one – the best rip-off store we had ever seen. Even the salespeople genuinely thought they worked for Apple," the blogger wrote on her blog.
Interestingly, the brains behind the fake Apple Store forgot (intentionally?) the fact that the technology Apple Inc, headed by Steve Jobs, never uses the words 'Apple Store' for their exclusive outlets, instead they just puts up the glowing, iconic fruit.
Just after the reports of these fake Apple Store popped up in media, Apple confirmed that the alleged 'Apple Store' in China was an unauthorised shop.
