Gupta for revamping education system in Haryana

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) Haryana Education Minister Mange Ram Gupta today stressed the need for revamping the education system in the state in the light of fast changing scenario globally.

While reviewing the functioning and various schemes of Education Department here, he also directed the officers of the education department to chalk out a time bound programme for imparting qualitative education.

Mr Gupta said in order to keep pace with the level of education being imparted in other developed countries, there was a dire need to change the standard of education in the state.

He said, ''Our education system should have been equipped with modern techniques so that our students could easily face the challenges of globalisation of economy.'' He asserted that only education could open the new avenues of progress and prosperity.

Stressing the need to impart education especially to the girls in the rural areas, he observed that even today the girl child was discriminated against by their parents in the rural areas.

He said two families could be educated by giving the education to a girl.

While expressing his concern on the incidents of misbehavior by the teachers and staff with girl students, he maintained that FIRs would be lodged against those who would be found involved in such incidents.

He said the Head of the school would also be made accountable for such incidents and this step would help in minimising these incidents in future.
