Bhopal, Sep 6: Moral education would be reintroduced in primary schools in Madhya Pradesh to inculcate good moral values and positive impressions in students right from tender age, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

Earlier, a moral science book was included in the curriculum, but had been withdrawn for reasons best known to those who did it, Mr Chouhan said after presenting the state-level awards to 11 teachers on the occasion of Teachers Day here yesterday.

The award comprises Rs 12,500 in cash, shawl, Shrifal and citation. He also felicitated 13 teachers who received the award from President of India last year.

The Chief Minister announced to double the amount of state-level award to Rs 25,000.

Pointing out that history had not been taught in proper perspective as a result of which there was a general lack of patriotism and nationality in the country, Mr Chouhan said life sketches of great personalities would be included in text books.

He said scholarships would be provided to children of about 72 lakh poor workers' families right from class one. A 'Teachers Panchayat' would be convened for consultations to solve the problems of teachers, while the procedure for granting permission to teachers for further studies would be simplified.
