CBSE changing curriculum: Ganguly

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) To keep pace with changing trends in the education sector, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is introducing several new subjects, including film appreciation, heritage conservation and Human Rights, in its curriculum.

''We are changing the curriculum... we want to provide our students all round education, Therefore we are introducing subjects like vocational studies in financial marketing etc,'' CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly said in his address at the CBSE Teachers Award 2006 function here.

He said twelfth standard students will not only study Visual Art, film appreciation and Heritage conservation but also women's rights and related issues.

Vocational studies will include training in financial marketing and BPO besides fashion designing and retail sector, he added.

''The country's economy is fast developing and we need to keep pace with that so the students must develop skills in that sector,'' he said.

Mr Ganguly said it was necessary to focus on skill development in technology.

''Teachers must also be updated with the latest trends in technology... It is necessary that moral vales are also imbibed in students,'' she added.
