Patna, Jul 18 (UNI) Bihar Human Resources Development Minister Brishen Patel today assured the Legislative Council that the state government was committed to improving the educational scenario in the state and said a slew of measures had been taken in this direction.

Replying to the special debate in the House on prevailing educational scenario of the state, Mr Patel said intermediate level teaching had been stopped in Patna university and there was an urgent need to improve the quality of education at plus level in the schools.

'' In view of the largescale shortage of teachers in schools, the Bihar government has appointed thousands of trained teachers during the past few months, which was major recruitment in the education sector in the past twenty 20 years, '' he added.

Dissatisfied with the reply of the state government, Ghulam Gaus, Nawal Kishore Yadav, Dr Bhim Singh (all RJD), Mahachandra Prasad Singh of the Congress and Basudeo Singh of the CPI staged a walk-out from the House.

Earlier, Prof Ghulam Gaus, Nawal Kishore Yadav, Bhim Singh and Narendra Prasad Singh, Basudeo Singh and Balram Singh Yadav were among other members, who participated in the special debate.
