7Seas Technologies launch online gaming portal

Hyderabad, May 11: 7Seas Technologies Ltd, an independent game development company from India, will launch its online gaming portal on May 13, claiming to be the first of its kind in the world with Indian characters and multilingual options.

Initially hosting 100 games to play on portal 'www.onlinerealgames.com', it would plan to upgrade it to 300 games within a year. The beta version of the portal had already about three lakh registered users, according to Company's Managing Director L Maruti Sanker.

''With increasing penetration of internet, especially of the broadband in the country, onlineralgames.com is all set to create waves in the gaming segment. So far, Indians have to contend with the foreign characters and English language. But this site offers all new Indian characters and multilingual options for the first time in the world. It holds the copyright and trademark of all the games offered at onlinerealgames.com.'' The global online game market was forecasted to grow over $ 13bn in 2011, by using broadband households higher PC penetration. Even in India, the online games market was expected to top $ 200 million in 2010. The company would become one of the very few companies from India to have a huge library of online games, with proper intellectual property rights and to position itself uniquely in the world of gaming industry, he claimed.

It is the first independent game development company from India to get ISO 9001:2000 quality certification. It is also trying to establish its niche in Game Testing and be a leading Game Testing Hub in India, which has huge commercial value.

It had set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in USA, Fortune7 Inc, which would focuse on publishing and distribution of games developed by 7Seas Technologies Ltd.

It had partnered with leading technology vendors and distribution companies but mainly focused on developing and selling unique gaming content and also on multiplayer games for all the segments.

7Seas revenue stream from Console games would be through the sale revenue sharing and royalty of the game, generally total console game sales would be around $ 60 to 80 million. It would have a share of 30 to 40 per cent of this, based on the distributor or console manufacturer. PC games revenues would be through distribution model.

Mobile games revenue would come from the sale and royalty of the game to the mobile phone manufacturers and also through the telecom operators.

7Seas was developing only 3D mobile games for different mobile phones. Online gaming portal revenue stream would be through online advertising, licensing sales and in-game advertising.

Its first game 3D Sudoku World (PC Casual Game) was distributed by TryMedia, a division of Macromedia Corporation, which is the world's largest online game distribution company.
