USP-India receives ISO 17025 accreditation

Mumbai, Apr 24: The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) has announcedthat its recently-opened laboratory in Hyderabad has receivedInternational Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 17025:2005accreditation through ACLASS, an integral part of USP's mission tosupport the availability of good quality therapeutic productsthroughout the world.

The ISO 17025 accreditation process, based on careful and detailedexamination of the overall technical competency of laboratories, coversevery aspect of laboratory management, from sample presentation andanalytical testing proficiency to reports and record keeping, a releasesaid here today.

'USP-India Limited' in Hyderabad strives for world class resultsin analytical testing, and the ISO 17025:2005 accreditation recognisesour commitment to maintaining the highest standards and practices,''said USP-India Limited Vice President Kumud Sampath.

USP-India has also received 9001:2000 certification, aninternational standard for quality management systems. USP's operationsin Rockville, MD are also ISO 9001:2000 certified and 17025:2005accredited.

ISO is world's largest developer of quality and environmentalstandards for business, government and society. In addition, it is aninternational network for national standards institutes of 148countries and is co-ordinated by the central secretariat in Geneva,Switzerland, the release added.
