TN: REC developed portal for knowledge-sharing

Chennai, Mar 21: To facilitate knowledge-sharing among engineering students and teachers across the country, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, a self financing college in Tamil Nadu has developed a portal.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College Principal Thangam Meganathan, gave this information at the end of the three-day National Symposium on 'Preparing IT Professionals for 2010- a Roap Map' for IT students organised by the college and Computer Society of India.

The symposium concluded with a panel discussion, which highlighted on competitive spirit in IT and success in an interview, that required the basic understanding of principles and its concurrent relevance with industry and excellent communication skills wrapped with an aptitude to learn foreign languages.

The panel was headed by Ms Shiv Shankar, Head-Chennai Development Centre, Infosys and Mr S Ramanathan, Param Consulting. The sessions had 20 paper presentations on 'IT for Nation' covering e-governance, healthcare, education, manufacturing and education. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ramanathan said, ''An Indian Global Software which can articulate, understand, win the projects and hearts of people and conquer the world is needed in the industry today.'' The symposium also focussed on the scope for entrepreneurship and higher studies with a holistic approach. Vishwak Solutions Pvt ltd Chairman and Managing Director T N C Venkatarangan shared his experiences on his software company launch, opportunities and facilities available for higher education overseas.
