Positive environment must for children's growth: Official

Chennai, Nov 20 (UNI) Additional Secretary to the School Education department, Tamil Nadu P Annamalai called up on the educational institutions to provide a positive environment and create more opportunities for children's growth.

Partcipating in the 39th annual day celeberations of the Alpha Matriculation School here yesterday, he said two types of intelligence--Generic Intelligence and Specific Intelligence--are developed by environment and opportunities.

According to researches specific intelligence contribute major quotient in children knowledge level development, Mr Annamalai said and wanted the educational institutions to take note of this and accordingly deal with the school children.

Alpha Group of Educational institution chairperson Grace George, in her address said understanding the changing society and need to deliver exceptional individuals, the institution was continously introducing novel teaching methodologies and proposed to incorporate Cambridge International Education syllabus from standard I to VI from the next academic year.

She said English lab for primary students was concentrating on the basic language skills through the use of computer.

As many as 21 students from Bowen School, Singapore, who are here as part of a three-year school exchange programme sang a choir and performed a dance.

Mr Goh Buan Chuan Dominic, Level Head, Maths Department, Bowen School Singapore, among others spoke at the function.
