"Syllabus should meet the demand for good skill": Dr Jha

Mysore, Apr 15 (UNI) World Bank Consultant and former Hindu Banaras University Vice Chancellor Dr C S Jha today underlined the need to frame education and training schedules to meet the desired attainment levels and provide adequate employment facilitating skills through repetitive exposures and practice.

Inaugurating a two-day National Workshop on 'Technician Education' jointly organised by JSS Polytechnic for Women and Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering here, he said the technician education should encourage self learning skills, develop confidence and eliminate fear so as to develop a competitive edge in problem solving.

He said that instant access to the internet, use of IT and multi media for instruction would facilitate in training the technicians.

Dr Jha said that polytechnics must continue to provide the expert technological linkage between the design conceptualizing engineer and the design fabricating and implementing craftsmen. Improving productivity of all sectors of the national economy through skilled manpower production should be the ultimate goal of all institutions, he added.
