LK Advani fears an Emergency-like situation may arise in the country
New Delhi, June 18: Even as the Narendra Modi is embroiled in Lalit Modi- Sushma Swaraj controversy, senior BJP leader LK Advani said that he fears that an Emergency like situation could arise again.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Advani said that 'forces that can crush the democracy are stronger.'

"At the present point of time, the forces that can crush democracy notwithstanding the constitutional and legal safeguards, are stronger," Advani said. He went on to add that a commitment to democracy was lacking in the country.
He also said that there was some weakness in the political leadership but also implied that it does not mean that the politics in the country was immature. Advani said that the country still has not come to terms with the Emergency of 1975.
" Of course, no one can do it easily. But that it cannot happen again - I will not say that. It could be that fundamental liberties are curtailed again," he added.
