EC initiates action against Narendra Modi, warns media
The commission said that Modi and others violated provisions of the Representation of People's Act by folding a meeting and addressing the same when polls are being held in Gujarat and various other parts of the country.
The commission also directed action against the television channels and electronic media that carried images of Modi's addressing the press conference or flashing the lotus, the BJP's election symbol, at the press conference. It sought a compliance report by 6 pm today.

Earlier, the Congress submitted a complaint to the EC about the incident and the latter asked the state authorities to initiate action. The BJP, however, said that the Gujarat CM did not violate the model code of conduct and the party woudl abide by its ruling.
According to English news channel Times Now, police sources said that following the EC directive, they were obliged to file an FIR against Modi.
