CPI to contest four Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Jan 20: The CPI has decided to contest four Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, including Mumbai South, currently held by Union Minister of State for Shipping Milind Deora.

The decision to this effect was taken at the party's state council and executive committee meeting on Saturday.

CPI leader Namdeo Kannake will be the candidate from Gadchiroli constituency.

The CPI is committed to strengthen the Left Democratic alliance to provide a viable alternative to the Congress and BJP, a statement issued by the party said.

CPI leader Namdeo Kannake will be the candidate from Gadchiroli constituency and Prakash Reddy will contest Mumbai South seat.

The state council has sent a proposal to the national council to contest the Parbhani and Aurangabad seats as well.
