Kol horror: Trinamool supporters attack police station, policemen hide under tables!
November 14: Supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) ransacked a police station in Alipore area of Kolkata on Friday in the name of protesting forced acquisition of a public works department (PWD) land. The incident turned so ugly that the policemen were found taking shelter under the tables and saving their heads.
Local sources said some PWD officials, accompanied by policemen from Alipore police station, went to recover the land grabbed. The local TMC supporters got upset seeing the police and began a violent protest against the land grabbing. The policemen retreated but the protesters refused to give up and went after them till the police station. They even shouted "Kolkata Police Hai Hai" slogan and snatched the sticks of the policemen to attack them.

The shocked policemen ran for their lives and took shelter under the furniture or behind fat files. It was the arrival of the additional forces under DC South Murlidhar Sharma on time that saved the day for them.
The police in West Bengal have been facing ire of supporters of goons allegedly backed by the ruling party a number of times. In February ast year, a policeman was shot dead in broad daylight when the police tried to control violence in the Garden Reach area of Kolkata over filing of nomination papers for a college election.
