Bengaluru, Feb 4: Chandan, the 14-year-old ‘young fighter' and die hard devotee of Indian Air Force (IAF) who is waging a valiant battle against an acute stage of cancer is in need of your help. Coincidentally, the appeal for help comes on a day when February 4 is being observed as World Cancer Day.

The little boy from Bihar, is now undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi with the support of Uday Foundation. His family is facing severe financial crisis.

Money has become a matter of concern

Chandan's father Girish Mandal told OneIndia on Wednesday that any form of financial assistance is welcome at this stage.

"We have spent all our saving on Chandan's treatment. We had to shift from Bihar and come to Delhi for his treatment and I have not been able to run my small business as well. Uday Foundation is doing their best to support us. Money has become a matter of concern for us," Girish said.

As reported by OneIndia earlier, the doctors at the AIIMS have almost given up their hopes on Chandan. Cancer is spreading all over Chandan's body putting the boy in agonising pain. He is being administered heavy dosages of morphine every four hours. He has stopped eating for the last one week and his parents are not sure what needs to be done at this stage.

"His one eye has completely been swollen up and he has stopped speaking as well. We have shown him print outs of recent OneIndia reports and told him lakhs of people are praying for him. We also told him that our former President Abdul Kalamji also is praying for Chandan. He can't express his happiness either," Girish said.

Chandan's story moves Dr Kalam

Chandan's story has touched Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, who tweeted to his followers for prayers.

"Read a moving report on young pilot Chandan. Let's pray for his good health," Dr Kalam tweeted after reading the OneIndia report. His message was re-tweeted by thousands of his followers, all praying for Chandan's speedy recovery.

Chandan's long wish of owing a plane was also fulfilled recently after P S Subramanyam, Director, Aeronautical Development Agency, spearheading the Light Combat Aircraft programme, sending a Tejas model. Millions of online readers are offering their prayers with many suggesting various treatment modes for cancer.
