The two women were arrested in connection with a sexual assault case filed by two Surat-based sisters. The complainants accused Lakshmi and Bharti of helping Asaram and his son Narayan Sai to abuse women at their ashrams.
Despite their release, Lakshmi and Bharti have been asked to appear before Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further probe in the case on Dec 26. The duo were even asked to sit with Asaram for joint interrogation at the state ATS office.

One SIT official was quoted as saying, "We have asked them to remain present when required by the investigating team or else we can seek their remand cancelling their bail. We would further question them in the matter after the court hearing."
Asaram has currently been lodged in a jail in Rajasthan. He was arrested from his ashram as a 16-year-old girl accused him of sexually assaulted her inside his ashram near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Later, several other allegations were hurled against him and his son.
Later Narayan Sai, who was on run for many months, were arrested near Delhi-Haryana border. According to sources, Narayan Sai accepted that he had physical relation with the complainant.
