Several injured in Bokaro following attack on Ram Navami procession; curfew imposed
Ranchi, April 16: A curfew was imposed on Friday night in steel city, Bokaro after some youth pelted stones on a procession, taken out on the occasion of Ram Navami. Reportedly , procession was led by Bokoro MLA Viranchi Narain.
According to media reports, 19 persons, including a magistrate and four policemen were injured in the violence, which allegedly broke out after some members of a particular community tried to stop the procession from passing through their areas.
The incident took place on National Highway 23 in Siwandih area of Bokaro.
Deputy Commissioner R M Patre said curfew was imposed in police station areas of Balidih, Maraphari, Sector-12 and Bokaro Steel City. Patre further said that police had to use batons and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
