Saradha scam: TMC MP Mithun Chakraborty gets clean chit

Kolkata, Apr 30: In a major reprieve for Mithun Chakraborty, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given him a clean chit. Actor Aparna Sen who was also questioned in connection with the scam too was given a clean chit by the CBI.

The Enforcement Directorate had questioned Mithun after it was found that he had received a payment of Rs 1.76 crore for hosting a chat show on politics on the Channel 10.

Saradha scam: Mithun gets clean chit

An officer with the CBI informed OneIndia that the relationship with Saradha was strictly professional and Mithun had nothing to do with the dealings of the group.

Mithun shared only a professional relationship with Saradha:

Mithun who is also a Rajya Sabha member from the Trinamool Congress was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate.

It was stated that he hosted a political chat show on the Channel 10 belonging to the Saradha Group. The chat show was called, Bangla Bolche Songe Mithun.

During the questioning Mithun had told the ED that he was given a sum of Rs 1.76 crore for hosting the show. He further stated that he got the money through a bank transfer and the same was done by Bengal Media Private Ltd, a Saradha owned group.

Aparna Sen gets clean chit:

The ED and the CBI had also probed the link between Aparna Sen and Saradha. It was said that she was an editor with a magazine that was being run by the group.

The ED wanted to check whether the relationship was just professional or not.

However after both Mithun and Aparna gave their answers, an independent verification of the same was carried by the CBI and the ED. It was found that they had no links with wrong doings of the Saradha group.

Both Mithun and Aparna had also told the ED and CBI that their relationship with the group was strictly professional and they had no hand in the wrong doings of the group.
