PMO, LG doing politics over women's safety: Kejriwal
Arvind Kejriwal slammed PMO and Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung for doing politics over women's safety. He said police had become corrupt and ineffective under them.
New Delhi, Dec 16: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday accused the Prime Minister's Office and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung of doing politics over women's safety in Delhi. Kejriwal's remarks followed media reports about the rape of a young woman in a car in the National Capital.
"LG and PMO doing politics with women safety in Delhi. LG stopped salaries of all employees in DCW (Delhi Commission for Women). Police becomes corrupt and ineffective under them," Kejriwal tweeted.
Kejriwal and Jung have been squabbling over the appointment of a Member Secretary at the DCW. Jung later appointed IAS officer Dilraj Kaur, whose appointment was also rejected by Kejriwal.
Kejriwal and Jung are at loggerheads with each other in Delhi. Kejriwal had recently objected to Jung appointing an IAS officer to the Delhi Commission for Women.
"LG is acting like Hitler, following in footsteps of his masters Mr Modi n Amit Shah," Kejriwal tweeted on December 7.
Jung appointed IAS officer Dilraj Kaur as Member Secretary of the DCW on December 6. The move came eight days after Kejriwal had sought the removal of incumbent Alka Dewan, terming her appointment "unconstitutional" and against the consent of the Delhi government.
