Abdul Khalique Shaikh, a senior police officer in southern Karachi, said,"AFP photographer Asif Hasan suffered wounds resulting from gunshots fired by ... protesters, police have not opened fire."
Approximately 200 protesters clashed with the police and some of the protestors were armed too. Security forces used cannon balls tear gas to disperse the crowd outside the consulate. After the clashes, the protesters retreated to a nearby area but refused to leave as police blocked access to the consulate.
The protests come days after 12 journalists of Charlie Hebdo were massacred by two gunmen.
