Neha Rathore Questioned by Police Regarding Alleged Anti-National Social Media Comments

Folk singer Neha Rathore was questioned by police regarding her social media comments linked to the Pahalgam terror attack. This follows the rejection of her anticipatory bail plea amid allegations of anti-national sentiments.

Folk singer Neha Singh Rathore visited Hazratganj police station on Saturday for questioning about her remarks on the Pahalgam terror attack, according to officials. She was called by the investigating officer to provide her statement as part of the ongoing investigation. Rathore arrived with her husband at the police station.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had earlier denied Rathore's anticipatory bail plea. This was in relation to her social media comments, which were alleged to be baseless, anti-religious, and anti-national. The comments reportedly targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Bharatiya Janata Party concerning the killing of 26 tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings

An FIR against Rathore was filed at Hazratganj police station on April 27. Her husband explained that they received the first notice from the police about 15 days ago. Due to her health issues at that time, they informed the police and requested a delay, assuring them of their future appearance.

Following this, a second notice was placed at their residence, instructing them to appear before the investigator within three days. "So we decided to come today," he mentioned. Rumours about Rathore's arrest circulated on social media, but senior police officials denied any such occurrence.

Official Statements and Clarifications

Assistant Commissioner of Police Hazratganj Vikas Kumar Jaiswal clarified that Rathore was summoned for questioning regarding the case by the investigating officer. "She has come to record her statement, which is a routine exercise," he stated.

This development follows Rathore's controversial comments on social media that allegedly targeted prominent political figures and were deemed offensive by some. The investigation continues as authorities seek clarity on her statements and intentions.
