Mumbai: Male passenger drags, beats and strips woman conductor

Dombivli (Thane), June 5: In a shocking incident of a woman being harassed yet again, a woman bus conductor was dragged out of the bus by a youth, before being stripped and beaten. This happened on the outskirts of Mumbai this morning in a bus that ployed between Kalyan and Panvel at around 8:30 am. This was the 34-year old victim's first trip.

Moreover, the passengers shamefully stood audience to the entire thing without raising their voice. Later, a group of students who had boarded the bus intervened and stopped the man.

The conductor said,"I asked him to get off the bus and he pulled me by my feet and dragged me off the bus and made me lie down on the road. He then ripped my clothes and began kicking me. There was another bus behind us, and the conductor of that bus tried to save me; he then beat her up too. This incident occurred at the bus stop, when the bus was stationary and passengers were boarding the bus, but none of them came to my rescue."

The accused-30-year old Abhishek Singh-has been arrested and slapped with sections 353, 354, 504 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code.

Singh is said to have boarded the bus from the wrong door. When the driver objected, he started abusing him. To this the conductor intervened asking why he was behaving that way with a man of his father's age. This angered the youth who dragged her out of the bus and beat her.
