Let media do its work: Javadekar
New Delhi, Nov 3: A day after Congress defended Robert Vadra over his public spat with a journalist, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said media should be allowed to do its work.

"Responsible behaviour is responsibility of all. Media ko apna kaam karne do (Let media do its work)," Javadekar told reporters when queried on the issue. The Minister had said on Sunday that his ministry would act if it receives a complaint and stressed that media should be allowed to do its work.

Vadra, Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law, had on Saturday lost his cool and reportedly pushed aside the microphone of a reporter at a five-star hotel gym when he was quizzed about his controversial land deals in Haryana.

Javadekar: Responsible behaviour is responsibility of all

A livid Vadra was seen on a video aired by TV channels asking the reporter four times as to whether he was serious about his land deal question.

Backing Vadra, Congress had said yesterday that "repeated hounding" of an individual is "not appropriate" and advised the media to avoid "unpleasantness" of shooting questions at private functions. BJP has attacked Vadra, saying it was his "sheer frustration" that caused this inappropriate behaviour.

"Vadra was the one who had called India a Banana Republic and we Indians as mango people but it is time that we make him realise that India is no more a Banana Republic which was ruled by the first family of Congress," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had said.
