Bengaluru: IAS officer who locked horns with sand mafia found dead
Bengaluru, March 16: An IAS officer of the 2009 batch was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence at Koramangala under the Madivala police station limits on Monday, March 16 evening.
D K Ravi, the additional commissioner in the commercial taxes department, was found hanging in his room this evening. The police say prima facie it is a case of suicide but also add that all angles are being probed.
Officer had died this morning
The incident is said to have occurred this morning. However the body was discovered only this evening when his wife returned home.
Police officials say that his wife upon returning home had found the officer dead. It appears as though he hanged himself the police said.
A tough officer
Hari had been in the news after he had first taken on the very powerful sand mafia while he is in Kolar. He had also conducted several raids which had not gone down too well with the sand mafia.
He was in the news after he had taken over as additional commissioner of commercial taxes. The police say that it is too early to say if his death is connected to all this and the probe is on. His wife opened the door to discover him dead.
Special team formed
Police Commissioner M N Reddi informed that prima facie it is a case of suicide and they suspect no foul play. A special team has been formed to investigate the case under DCP Rohini.
The death has taken place between 11 AM and 6 PM, forensics preliminary investigations have shown.
