Go to the LG with your problems, fuming AAP tells Delhiites
New Delhi, Aug 6: After Delhi High Court verdict that held Lieutenant Governor as its administrative head, the Aam Admi Party government has advised people of Delhi to approach him with their problems.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday ruled that the capital as a union territory is mainly charge of the Lieutenant Governor (LG). The LG is a representative of the Centre in Delhi.
"Since the situation has changed after Thursday's judgment, we expect that all the work that the Delhi government was doing for public good and our battle against corruption will now be carried forward by the LG with the same commitment and honesty with which the Delhi government was performing," AAP national spokesperson Ashutosh was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
"We respect the judgment of the Delhi High Court but fundamentally disagree with it. We are hopeful that the Supreme Court will rule in our favour. As a party that respects the Constitution and the judiciary, we will obey the decision of the high court," he added.
Kejri loses Jung: LG's Delhi boss, not CM, HC rules
The court delivered this verdict while hearing a plea that challenged two central government notifications in which the LG, Najeeb Jung was given absolute power to appoint bureaucrats and also restricted the scope of the city's anti-corruption bureau.
The order is seen as a major set back for Arvind Kejriwal who is in a turf war with the LG. The Delhi CM has accused the LG of acting at the behest of the Centre. He said that the LG bypasses the elected government.
