BJP received Rs 2.50 cr donations from companies exporting buffalo meat

New Delhi, Dec 17: BJP received Rs 2.50 crore donations from meat exporting companies during run up to 2014 Lok Sabha Polls. This revelations came to light after party submitted data contribution reports for financial years 2013 to 2015 to Election Commission of India (ECI) recently.

The development may give Opposition including Congress fresh ammo to take on BJP which has been opposing meat export vociferously.

According to a TOI report, the name of these companies which donated Rs 2 crore to Saffron party during 2014 Parliamentary election, are Frigorifico Allana Ltd, Frigerio Converva Allana Ltd and Indagro Foods Ltd. Apart from above three, Frigorifico Allana Ltd contributed Rs 50 lakhs to party's coffer in 2014-15.

All these companies which donated magnanimously to BJP, are subsidiaries of Allanasons Ltd, world renowned firm in the field of meat exporting business. Company describes itself as the "world's largest producer and exporter of frozen halal boneless buffalo meat, dominating the buffalo meat exports market in India".

The saffron party recently submitted list of companies which donated money during 2014 Lok Sabha Polls to EC.

Under Section 29C of the Representation of People Act, 1951, party has to apprise EC about who all donated money for party fund.

During Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raked up the issue. While campaigning in Bihar, Modi had compared beef export with "pink revolution" .
