Bengaluru: Namma Metro Magadi Road-Mysuru Road line inaugurated

Bengaluru, Nov 16: The much-awaited Namma Metro's purple line was on Monday, Nov 16, inaugurated, from Magadi Road-Mysuru Road.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah flagged off the first metro along the 6.8km stretch. The new metro line consists of six metro stations-- Magadi Road, Hosahalli, Vijayanagara, Attiguppe, Deepanjali Nagara and Mysore Road.

Namma Metro

The duration of the journey on this line is expected to take 15 minutes to 20 minutes. The elevated stretch is a part of Reach-2 of Phase-1 of Namma Metro. All six metro stations will be equipped with 50-60 surveillance cameras.

On the first day when the metro zoomed in, many Bengalureans were excited to hop onto the metro to experience the ride.

First phase of the metro is expected to be completed by June 2016. Phase II of the Namma Metro would be completed by 2020.

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Congress leader M Veerappa Moily and the city Mayor B N Manjunath Reddy were also present at the inauguration.
