Ironically, the IT city Bengaluru was declared the cleanest capital city in the country last month only.

Residents in the surrounding area are very upset with the administration over the issue. They are saying that government is indifferent about the problem.

Peeved residents are saying that their repeated pleas to clean up the lake fell on deaf ears. Experts say that strong stench from the lake could pose several health hazards to the people living close to the lake.

According to a ANI report, locals allege that the administration had assured them of action few months ago when they complained about the problem. But not much has been done since to restore the health of the lake.

Recently a petition was signed by people to protect the lake. The petition was addressed to Ecology and Environment B. Ramanath Rai. It was requested to protect Bangalore's biggest lake otherwise it will go on to become India's biggest biohazard.
