(In Pics) How incessant rains wreak havoc in Hyderabad
Hyderabad streets are reported to be inundated as the city witnesses its first monsoon showers. Bringing lives of people to a grinding halt, the rains have affected traffic and businesses in the Nizamabad and the Ramagundam areas.
In fact, Nizamabad witnessed heavy rains of 42.4 m in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, Ramagundam recorded moderate rains of 24.8 mm.
Hyderabad has recorded 10 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, increasing the water level in the Hussain Sagar lake, forcing authorities to release its water. The MeT office has recorded rainfall, ranging from 106 mm to 164 mm, that too in a span of just two hours.
The NDRF has been pressed to action, given the flood-like situation in the city. Schools and colleges are closed.
The weatherman reveals that the reason behind such heavy rainfall is the low pressure that has been created over coastal Andhra Pradesh and the adjoining areas.
