School reopens a week after child raped!
Bangalore, Oct 27: The Bangalore school where a 3-year-old girl child was brutally raped, has reopened on Monday, Oct 27.

An office attendant sexually assaulted the child took last Tuesday and since then the school had been closed.

Apparently, Department of Public Instruction, Karnataka, is yet to grant permission for classes to restart. While classes from the 1st to 5th standard have opened, there is no clarity on when classes 6th and 7th will open.

The Police arrested an office attendant - 45-year old, Gundappa - who had been working in the school for the past two years. The arrest was made based on the CCTV footage from the school and a photo identification by the victim.

A criminal case was registered after a complaint was filed by the victim's father under Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). [Read: Three-year-old girl child raped in kindergarten school]

"I have assured the parents they need not be concerned about the safety of their wards after inspecting the security measures in the school and instructing its management to ensure full compliance with our safety guidelines given to it," city police commissioner MN Reddi said.

The school was unable to provide any evidences to show that it is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The incident took place at Orchids The International School near HMT Theatre in HMT Colony Sector-2 in Jalahalli police station limits.
