Narayana Murthy, sole messiah for Infosys employees

Bangalore, June 14: Narayana Murthy's second innings in IT major Infosys seems to be a great treat to its employees. The second-largest software company of the country announced salary hike for all eligible staff.

While employees in India will get an average 8 per cent increase, employees onshore will get a hike of 3 per cent. The increments will be effective July 1,2013, the company said in a statement. The company also informed that it has increased salaries of its global sales force by an average 8 per cent, effective May 1, 2013.

Murthy, messiah for Infy employees

Most Indian IT firms give increments around April or May. Earlier sources had informed that Infosys might not give any increment to its employees.

However, the company retracted to its previous statement and announced the salary hike soon after Murthy's return to the company.

The IT giant re-appointed 66-year-old Murthy as Executive Chairman of the company. The company in an official statement on Saturday, June 1 said Murthy has been appointed as Executive Chairman of the Board and Additional Director with effect from June 1, 2013.

Speaking about the sudden decision taken by the company, Murthy was quoted as saying, "This calling was sudden, unexpected, and most unusual. But, then, Infosys is my middle child. Therefore, I have put aside my plans-in-progress and accepted this responsibility."

Narayana Murthy's son Rohan Murty too would join the company. Official press release of Infosys said, " Narayana Murthy intended to create Chairman's office to assist him during his tenure. His son Rohan Murty would be his executive assistant.
