Suicide case: Will Geetika Sharma, Anuradha get justice?
Will justice to delivered to Geetika and her mother?
Anuradha, in her 50s killed herself in their family house in Ashok Vihar on Friday, Feb 15. In her suicide note, mother of Geetika (23), a former air-hostess wrote, "Geetika's death is responsible for my death. And Aruna Chaddha and Gopal Kanda are responsible for hers."
"We found a suicide note in the house. Anuradha Sharma was depressed. The note says Gopal Kanda and Aruna Chaddha were responsible for Geetika's death," said P Karunakaran, DCP, northwest. Geetika had committed suicide in 2012 after alleged harassment by Gopal Kanda.
Media reports say police will interrogate Kanda and Chaddha on Monday, Feb 18.
Earlier on Sunday, Delhi police had recorded statements of Geetika's father, Dinesh, and brother, Ankit.
Since the trial began in the abetting Geetika's suicide, Geetika's family had been alleging that Kanda was pressurising them to withdraw the complaint against him. Geetika, who was found dead at her Ashok Vihar residence in northwest Delhi on August 5, 2012, had in her suicide note said that she was ending her life due to "harassment" by Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha, co-accused in the case.
They both have, however, denied the charge. The police have alleged that Kanda was obsessed with Geetika. In 2006, she joined his airline, MDLR, when she was in her teens. After the airline closed, she moved to Dubai to work with Emirates Airlines. According to Geetika's family, Kanda allegedly forged letters to ensure her return to India and blackmailed her to work for him.
