Cyclone Nilam effect: Rain to spoil weekend fun in Bangalore
"Heavy to very heavy rain is forecast in the state in the next 48 hours,'' Met department director-incharge B Puttanna said. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 20 degrees Celsius in the city during this time.
Met Department informed that cyclone Nilam moved further into Karnataka on Thursday. "Around 8.30 am on Thursday, the cyclone crossed Chitradurga, but the depression is centred there," said a Met Department official.
For the last two days, Bangalore is experiencing incessant rainfall. Temperature had fallen to almost 18 degree Celsius. Life was thrown out of gear due to bad weather conditions.
Bangalore has suffered power outages, uprooting of trees and roads turning into slush pools. Due to bad weather conditions, people were forced to stay indoors.
Celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava (birth of the Karnataka state) was also affected on Thursday due to rain.
Payal Sharma, working in an IT company, lamented that weather was bad in the city.
"All our weekend plans have been thrown out of gear. We slog hard throughout the week to enjoy our weekends. But now it seems impossible," rued Payal.
