Jayalalithaa 'stuns' Karunanidhi

Tiruchy, Feb 15: Taking a dig at DMK supremo Karunanidhi's criticism on rehabilitation package for districts hit by cyclone Thane by the AIADMK government, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa in response said criticism with the intention of finding fault should be ignored.

Karunandiahi had earlier said, "asandhudhan ponaargal (really, they were stunned)," to which Jayalalithaa replied, "oozhalaal ulagaiye asara vaithavargal (those who stunned the world with corruption were finding faults with the government's welfare schemes)."

"Let people appreciate or criticise, my duty is to serve the people," she said, quoting a verse from sage and poet Thayumanavar. "People’s development is my development," she said.

"My government is for the poor and weaker sections of the people...In the aftermath of Thane cyclone that hit Cuddalore and Villupuram districts, the government had sanctioned Rs 850 crore," she added.
