Security of VIPs to be reviewed by Home Ministry

Sharad Pawar
New Delhi, Nov 25: The home ministry will review the security of all the VIPs after a man who slapped the Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar. According to the positions of the ministers, the ministry may increase the number of personal security officers (PSOs).

Currently, many ministers including Sharad Pawar have been given PSOs and two house guards.

"Though today's incident has nothing to do with giving less or more number of PSOs to ministers, the matter will be reviewed. The ministers may be given additional PSOs for proximate security," said a senior official.

The ministry will issue some necessary instructions to all the states, which provide security personnel to the VIPs on the basis of their security categorization, the official added.

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry is also planning to cut down the security of VIPs who do not have threat. The VIPs who are facing serious threat will be given 'Z+' and 'Z' category security while others will get 'X' and 'Y' category. The 'x' category is the lowest among all.

Meanwhile, Home Minister P Chidambaram met with Sharad Pawar and condemned the incident.
