Emaar Case: CBI grills actors Ram Teja, Namrata Shirodhkar
Ram Charan Teja, the son of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, one of the villa owners was quizzed on Thursday, Sept 15 for about one hour, CBI officials said. On Wednesday, Sept 14 the CBI team recorded the statement of Namrata Shirodkar, wife of actor Mahesh Babu.
According to the sources, a CBI team visited Mahesh"s house in Jubilee Hills and recorded Namrata"s statement. Namrata is among the 90 VVIPs who owns villas in Emaar Boulder Hills township.
It is alleged that all villa owners have purchased properties at hefty concessions, reportedly at 5,000 per sq yard, much lower than prevailing market price. “Most people whom CBI has grilled have claimed that the property has been purchased through legally monies. Each one gave contradictory versions of the purchasing price of the property," sources said.
CBI, on August 17, registered a case against B P Acharya, senior IAS officer and former Chairman and Managing Director of APIIC, and Emaar Group on the direction of the High Court, for cheating, criminal conspiracy and offences under Prevention of Corruption Act.
