Land scam: Opposition demands dismissal of Bihar Govt

Nitish Kumar
Patna, Jul 21: The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday, Jul 21 demanded the resignation of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the recent land scam issue.

Ram Vilas Paswan led a party delegation to President Pratibha Patil demanding the dismissal of Bihar government over the alleged land scam. “The Nitish Kumar government has given huge plots of Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) land to sons and daughters of ministers, senior bureaucrats, BJP MPs and MLAs at throwaway prices," Paswan said.

"We demand that strict action should be taken against those who are involved in illegal acquisition of land. Immediately, the authorities should take the lands back form those to whom the lands have been allotted. We also want to know that how many such lands have been acquired. We had informed the media about such misappropriations in the state over 15 days ago as well. We highly condemn the state administration and it's wrongful governance," added Paswan.

Nitish Kumar has been accused of gifting valuable land to his close relatives, ministers and top listed officials under his administration, that were actually meant for industrial purpose.

According to law, the allotment is supposed to be done after due process and proper tender. But it has come to light that the Nitish government has allotted several BIADA (Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority) plots to relatives of ruling BJP-JD(U) alliance legislators without inviting proper tender.
