Mum Blast 2011: Haroon-Riyaz came together to plot attacks?

Hyderabad, Jul 19: Haroon, terror suspect in the 13/7 Mumbai blasts visited Hyderabad in Jun and discussed with Danish Riyaz, IM operative on how to carry the strikes and recruit youth, said sources.

Sources said that Haroon stayed with Danish at his rented house in Tolichowki.

Danish was working in Banjara Hills, with a small IT firm and was arrested by the police in connection with the 2008 Ahmedabad blasts.

During interrogation, Danish revealed that he met Haroon in Hyderabad to discuss the recruitment of youth and sending them to Pakistan for training.

"Danish provided shelter to absconding IM operatives like Tauqeer at his residence in Ranchi. First we thought his job in Hyderabad was just to keep off police radar, but following new leads, that he was meeting IM operatives from the city, we again need to probe his activities," said an intelligence officer.

The owner of the house and office where Danish worked were also grilled by Intelligence. The police got a clue about the Haroon link when they rummaged through seized materials like hard discs.

"During Danish's interrogation, it was learnt that to confuse cops they had floated a new outfit, 'Bullet 313', somewhere in December 2010 to recruit youth for jihadi activities. While recruitment was done in the name of Bullet group to attract youth, funds were collected in the name of another outfit called Jamat Ansarul Muslimeen (JAM). We suspect that recruitment was done from across the country, including Hyderabad. We are using informers to get information," said an NIA source.
