PM admits mistakes to Modi; denotes money to Gujarat project

Ahmedabad, Mar 27: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi discussed about the notice from Income Tax Department to the state government over MoUs signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Sources informed that Modi cornered the PM with the I-T issue and Dr Singh admitted the mistakes done by the I-T department.

A Modi aide, who was present in the meeting between the PM and Modi, stated, "The PM told Modi it was wrong and a mistake." The aide also quoted the PM as saying, "We will look into the matter at the earliest."

Sources also informed that Manmohan Singh assured an extra Rs 4,600 crore for Narmada project and responded positively to Narendra Modi's request to consider 8.58 lakh hectares (ha) of Narmada command area as "drought prone."

Both the PM and Modi met at the annual convocation of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A). IIM-A had invited the Prime Minister to be the chief guest at the ceremony.

Manmohan Singh is the third Prime Minister to preside over the IIM-A's convocation function after Indira Gandhi in 1968 and P V Narasimha Rao in 1993.
