Differently abled picekting progammes in 50 places in TN
Ramanathapuram, Feb 25 (PTI): Tamil Nadu Association forRights of All Types of Differently abled and Caregivers todaysaid it would organise picketing programmes at 50 places allover the state on February 28, demanding adequaterepresentation for them in government service.
Speaking to reporters here, Namburajan, Association StateDeputy Organiser said government had claimed to have filled5.05 lakh vacancies. As per its reservation policy 15,000differently abled persons should have been given jobs. But thestate had filed an affidavit that only 1790 had got jobs, hesaid, adding this was proof of how they had been ignored.
Urging the Tamil Nadu government to provide financial aidto persons with 40 per cent disability as in other states, hepointed out that only 32000 disabled persons were gettingbenefits in the state, compared to 6.5 lakh in Andhra Pradeshand 3.2 lakh in Karnataka.
He alleged that many NGOs run for disabled gave false auditreports to the government to get funds.
