Antony reviews security situation along LAC
Kibithu (Arunachal Pradesh), Feb 19 (PTI) Concerned overChina''s military modernisation, Defence Minister A K Antonytoday reviewed the security situation along the Line ofActual Control (LAC).
Antony''s visit here comes against the backdrop of China''sincreasing military modernisation and ever-increasing militaryexpenditure.
The Defence Minister had recently said these are ofserious concern for India.
From the army post in Kibithu, the LAC can be monitored,Defence spokesperson Sitanshu Kar said.
Antony also visited Leimakhong to take stock of thesecurity situation in Manipur and was briefed by seniormilitary commanders about "changing role of the Army in beingan agent of change in the sensitive milieu of Manipur," thespokesperson said.
The minister was accompanied by the Chief of Army StaffGeneral V K Singh, Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar, EasternArmy Commander Lt General Bikram Singh and the GOC 3 Corps LtGen N K Singh.
Antony had yesterday visited Tezpur and Chabua in Assamand Rangaphar Military Station in Nagaland.
